"Therefore have we commanded that all those who are signified in writing to you by Haman, who is ordained over these affairs and is next unto us, shall all, with their wives and children, be utterly destroyed by the sword of their enemies, without all mercy and pity, by the fourteenth day of the twelfth month Adar of this present year:
And now we have sinned before you; therefore you have given us into the hands of our enemies,
Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set my eyes on them for evil, and not for good.
How has it happened, Israel, that you are in your enemies' land, that you have grown old in a strange country, that you are defiled with the dead,
For he who brought these plagues upon you will deliver you from the hands of your enemies.
Be of good cheer, O my children, cry to the Lord, and he will deliver you from the power and hand of the enemies.
My delicate ones have gone rough ways and were taken away as a flock caught by the enemies.
You were sold to the nations, not for destruction, but because you moved God to wrath; thus you were delivered to the enemies.
For they departed from you on foot and were led away by their enemies, but God brings them to you exalted with glory, as children of the kingdom.
You, being in past times alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works,
But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety;
the LORD said to me, "Tell them, 'Don't go up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest you be struck before your enemies.'"
When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, [and] a people more than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
but the women, and the little ones, and the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, you shall take for a prey to yourself; and you shall eat the spoil of your enemies, which the LORD your God has given you.
and shall tell them, "Hear, Israel, you draw near this day to battle against your enemies: don't let your heart faint; don't be afraid, nor tremble, neither be scared of them;
for the LORD your God is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you."
When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and the LORD your God delivers them into your hands, and you carry them away captive,
for the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you, and to give up your enemies before you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that he may not see an unclean thing in you, and turn away from you.
When you go forth in camp against your enemies, then you shall keep yourselves from every evil thing.
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky; you shall not forget.
the LORD will cause you to be struck before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them, and shall flee seven ways before them: and you shall be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.
Your ox shall be slain before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it: your donkey shall be violently taken away from before your face, and shall not be restored to you: your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have none to save you.
therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD shall send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron on your neck, until he has destroyed you.
You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you.
the LORD will bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I said to you, You shall see it no more again: and there you shall sell yourselves to your enemies for bondservants and for bondmaids, and no man shall buy you.
the LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways.
the LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies, and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
You are happy, Israel. Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency! Your enemies shall submit themselves to you. You shall tread on their high places."
to thrust out all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has spoken.
Moreover they cannot withstand any king or enemies; so how then can it be thought or said that they are gods?
A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that the Jews should be ready for that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
Now in the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the month, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, on the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to conquer them, (but it was turned out the opposite happened, that the Jews conquered those who hated them),
The other Jews who were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, defended their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of those who hated them; but they didn't lay their hand on the plunder.
as the days in which the Jews had rest from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a good day; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending presents of food to one another, and gifts to the needy.
The Jews struck all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and with slaughter and destruction, and did what they wanted to those who hated them.
Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies, and fight against us, and escape out of the land."
But if you indeed listen to his voice, and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries.
I will send my terror before you, and will confuse all the people to whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.
When Moses saw that the people had broken loose, (for Aaron had let them loose for a derision among their enemies),
