These of the sons of Gad were captains of the army: he who was least was equal to one hundred, and the greatest to one thousand.
So Gad came to David, and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Take your choice:
David said to Gad, "I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are very great. Let me not fall into the hand of man."
Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up, and raise an altar to the LORD in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the LORD.
the LORD spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,
Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

The sons of Gad lived over against them, in the land of Bashan to Salecah:

Gad came that day to David, and said to him, "Go up, build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite."
David went up according to the saying of Gad, as the LORD commanded.
They passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and to Jazer:
These shall stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
Of Gad he said, "He who enlarges Gad is blessed. He dwells as a lioness, and tears the arm, yes, the crown of the head.

When they came to the region about the Jordan, that is in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, a great altar to look at.
